UT Commit Devrin Young Goes Off Against Hardin Valley

Friday afternoon rains and soggy turf did little to slow Devrin Young. Young, the University of Tennessee commitment, rushed for 262 yards and five touchdowns on 22 carries Friday night in the first round playoffs against Hardin Valley. Young needed only 234 yards to top 2,000 yards on the season, and he nearly got that in the first half against the Hawks (7-4), who were making their first playoff appearance in just their second season of varsity play.

"All the glory to God," said Young. "He put the right people in my path to get me ready for this year. It paid off."

Bearden (8-3) will play at Dobyns-Bennett (11-0) next Friday for a Class 6A second-round contest. Dobyns-Bennett was a 28-3 winner over Jefferson County.
