OT Zach Debell commits to UGA

AJC is reporting thata Offensive lineman Zach DeBell of Tarpon Springs, Fla., has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs.

Lisa DeBell, mother of the 6-foot-7, 265-pound athlete, said Zach hadn’t really planned on committing on this visit, his third to Athens since spring break. But after making trips to South Carolina and Tennessee on this latest sojourn, he was simply inspired to go ahead and pledging while attending “Dawg Night” here Friday night.

“Something special happened last time he was here,” Mrs. DeBell said. “You can see his face light up when he gets here. He just decided there was no since in putting it off any longer and he’s real happy about it.”

DeBell becomes the Bulldogs’ 14th commitment and fourth offensive lineman, joining David Andrews, Watts Dantzler and Hunter Long. Georgia will likely look to secure at least one or two more linemen for the class of 2011.

DeBell chose Georgia over South Carolina, Tennessee and Notre Dame, among others.

Mrs. DeBell said her son cancelled a scheduled trip to Auburn tomorrow and to Florida for Friday Night Lights next week.
